JSB Game Protocols 2021

• Players and coaches will be screened for symptoms and other risk factors (travel, exposure, etc.) prior to each game.

• A six-foot distance will be maintained whenever possible, including during warm ups and on the bench.  As such, the bench is to extend beyond the dugout, behind fencing, to allow for distancing between players.  Personal bags and equipment should also remain 6 feet apart.

• Each player is to use their own equipment and water bottles at all times.

• Coaches should be masked at all times, and players should be masked when not actively playing, including on the bench, as well as when batting, catching, and on base.  Players in the field may be unmasked except for the first baseman when there is a player on base. All should be masked when arriving at and departing the facility.

• Hand sanitizer should be available to the team in each dugout and players should have their own to access as well.   

• Each team will provide and use their own game balls when on defense.

• There is to be no gum chewing, seed spitting or finger licking in the field or dugout.

• Line ups should be shared with the opposing team electronically, if possible.

• Pre game plate meeting shall include one coach from each team and the umpires, all should be masked and distanced.

•  Sportsmanship is always encouraged; however, group celebrations should be avoided.  At the end of the game a tip of the hat is suggested, rather than hand shakes with the opposing team.

•  Each team is responsible for picking up their dugout and bench area following every game, ensuring trash and drink bottles are removed and disposed of properly.

•  Spectators should wear masks from their car to their desired seat, and again when leaving.  They should also be worn when within 6 feet of those not in your household.

• Carpooling among players should be avoided, but if it is necessary, everyone in the car should remain masked throughout the ride.
