Concussion Training and Background Check

All individuals that help with the team must complete both concussion training and a background check (coaches, assistant coaches, dugout assistant, team parent, etc.)

Concussion Training
We utilize Heads Up training managed and administered by the CDC. Once you have created an account on the training website, the course will take about 30 minutes.

It is important to save and print a copy of the certificate to hand into your coach at the end of the course. An email copy to your coach is acceptable if you are not able to print.

Certificates are good for the remainder of the current calendar year, plus 2 additional full years. Example: I complete the course on 3/21/2021, my certificate is valid until 12/31/2023.

Volunteer Background Check
Background checks are processed through Anne Arundel County Rec and Parks. These background checks are separate from AA County Schools/Police/Fire/etc. so if you have completed one for a county employer, you will need another background with Rec and Parks.

Background checks are valid for 3 years from the date you were verified.

If you fill out the form and hand it in to your coach or a league representative, there is no cost for the individual. If you do not feel comfortable with sharing your information, you may complete the background check online for a $7 fee.
