Spring Softball registration is now open!

The goal of our softball program is to teach girls aged 7-14 the fundamentals of the game, encourage development and good sportsmanship, make new friends, grow as members of a team and most importantly, to have fun.

We strive to help coaches and parents focus on making the experience of practices and games exciting, while helping the girls develop and mature as players and as people. Together, we all must demonstrate how to win with grace and lose with dignity.

Divisions

PIONEER II (ages 6-8)
5 inning game played on 60' bases -- innings consist of 3 outs or 5 runs, whichever comes first. Outs are made in the field, and batters / runners that are put out on the bases return to the dugout. Scores are kept, and while not emphasized, serve as the players' first introduction to the concept of 'winning and losing'. Standings are not kept, however. Coach pitch, but batters can now be called out on strikes if they fail to put the ball in play within set number of pitches. All players are required to play at least two innings in the infield and two in the outfield, and coaches are encouraged to rotate players through all positions. 11"  softballs are used. 1 game a week on Saturdays, and 1-2 weeknight practices per week are the norm at this age group. Games are played as a part of the Howard County Softball Alliance, so there is some local travel for games. Practices are held at local elementary school fields in southern Howard County.

INTERNATIONAL (ages 9-10)
6 inning game played on 60' bases -- innings consist of 3 outs or 5 runs, whichever comes first. Scores and standings are kept, and all teams compete in a post-season tournament. Players pitch at this level (from 35 feet), but on the 4th ball of the at-bat, the hitting team's coach comes in to complete the at-bat. No walks, and a limited number of stolen bases are allowed per inning. 2 games a week (one Saturday, one weeknight) and 1-2 weeknight practices per week are the norm at this age group. Games are played as a part of the Howard County Softball Alliance, so there is some local travel for games. Practices are held at local elementary school fields in southern Howard County.

NATIONAL (ages 11-14)
6 inning game played on 60' bases -- Games are held on Saturdays and  Mondays. Players pitch from a 40' circle at this level, and walks can now occur. Baserunners are allowed to steal bases and advance on wild pitches once the ball crosses the plate, and can now advance from third to home. Innings consist of 3 outs or 5 runs, whichever comes first. Games are played as a part of the Howard County Softball Alliance, so there is some local travel for games. Practices are held at local elementary school fields in southern Howard County.
