Inclement Weather Policy

WE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO HOLD PRACTICES AND GAMES AS SCHEDULED…
Soccer is an outdoor sport and we do occasionally play in light rain and/or cold weather. Please be sure to dress your child appropriately. Layering clothing under the uniform is acceptable, but please no metal fasteners or drawstrings for the children’s’ safety.

Field Closures are posted by 4:30pm on weeknights and 7:00am on weekends

Please note sometimes there may be a slight delay in posting closures due to changing weather patterns after the posted time. We will make every effort not to cancel practices or games and sometimes delay right up until the posting time before closing fields.  Also note, that LYSA/CSC does not control closings at the Youngsville Sports Complex, but we do work closely with the complex so that we have up to date information.  To avoid confusion, we typically post only CLOSINGS so if no information is posted, assume that practices and games will be held as scheduled.

Ways to check for Field Closures

1. The field status on the LYSA/CSC homepage (www.lysasoccer.com) will be updated as closures become available. If the status shows open, it does not matter

2. Follow us on Facebook (Lafayette Youth Soccer Association/Cajun Soccer Club)

Lightning Policy

Both Moore Park and the Youngsville Sports Complex are protected by a Lightning detection and warning system. You will hear one long horn blast that indicates lightning is in the area and it is UNSAFE to play or be on the fields in any way. After hearing the horn to remove athletes from the field, the system will continue to monitor the storms.  Once the horn goes off and/or participants have been told the park is under lightning delay, all players and spectators are required to seek appropriate shelter immediately.  Examples of appropriate shelters include fully enclosed vehicles with windows up and substantial buildings.  Do not seek shelter under trees or metal objects such as bleachers or gazeboes.  Play will only resume on the fields after three short horn blasts from the system or the all clear from LYSA/CSC staff.  At this point, it is safe to resume play.

ONE LONG HORN BLAST = CLEAR FIELDS
THREE SHORT HORN BLASTS = RESUME PLAY

In the event the detection system is inoperable, LYSA/CSC staff will monitor the weather.  Lightning occurring within 5 miles or less from the activity site will initiate a lighting warning. All activity should cease from continuing and all participants are required to seek appropriate shelter. Participants will be told the park is under lightning delay, anyone that does not leave the fields will once again be staying at their OWN RISK.  Activities should be suspended for 30 minutes after the last strike of lightning is seen or it is at least greater than 5 miles away. This 30-minute clock restarts for each lightning flash within the 5 mile radius.
