Signal Mountain Soccer

FAQ:

When does the season start?
There are 2 different seasons offered per year. The fall soccer season starts in early September and ends before Thanksgiving. The spring season starts in March and ends in May. Spring soccer is a co-ed league, fall season has a separate boys and girls league. Each season typically lasts about 8 weeks.

What size ball does my player need?
U4, U6, and U8 leagues use a size 3 ball
U10 and U12 leagues use a size 4 ball
U14+ leagues use a size 5 ball

Are teams coed?
For the spring season, teams are coed. In the fall, they are not.

Will my player receive a uniform?
Yes, your child will receive a jersey and socks through the league before your first game. You will need to provide a ball, cleats, shorts, and shin guards.

How are practice times and days determined?
Practice times and days will be determined by your coach once teams have been established.
U4 and U6 only practice on game day before games. U8+ leagues will practice one day a week (usually a weekday) for an hour.

What if my player wants to play up in a higher league?
This is fine as long as his/her skill level is adequate. However, players cannot play down due to our strict insurance stipulations.

How will I know if practices and games are canceled due to weather?
Our website and Facebook page will have updates regarding field closures.  We also have a texting resource that you will be able to opt into once registration has closed and teams have been established.

Will there be make-up games/practices if they are canceled?
Coaches will work hard to reschedule games and practices if they are canceled.

Registration has CLOSED and my kiddo decided they want to play!!!!!
We will TRY to accommodate late registrants, but it really depends on league availability.  There is no guarantee there will be room once the registration deadline has passed!

Do you need volunteers?
YES!!!! Our league is completely reliant on our volunteers! We always need coaches, assistant coaches, league representatives, and board members. Even if you think you're inexperienced... it's nothing a few youtube videos couldn't fix ;)

What are the requirements of a coach?
Believe it or not, patience and a good attitude go further than soccer knowledge!!!  You will be responsible for emailing and contacting your team about practice times (determined by you and the field assignor). A schedule will be provided online through our field assignor usually the week before games start. The league provides cones and balls for all volunteer coaches to be turned in at seasons end.

When are select soccer try-outs?
Select soccer try-outs are generally late May/early June. Detailed information will be distributed once the time draws near.

When I go to register, there is a 'wait list' option to register. What does this mean?

After our registration deadline has passed and divisions have filled, there will be a wait list registration option. This means depending on how many volunteers we have to coach, there might be availability within the league, but there also might NOT be. You will be taken through the registration process, but a team is not guaranteed for your player.  A $10 late fee will be implemented once the registration deadline has passed.
