The Kokomo Soccer Club offers a travel program for players who desire a higher level of competition over that of recreational play. While there is a level of skill, athleticism, and commitment necessary to play travel soccer, we recognize that every player is different. The most skilled players are not always the most competitive or committed and vice versa. It is our goal to help each player develop his/her skills to their fullest potential. Anyone is welcome to try out. Any player not placed on a travel team will be referred to our Red Shirt or Recreational programs.
Academy:
Academy soccer is a small sided developmental program for young players who are looking to transition into the classic travel soccer. At this age it is extremely important for players to master the skills and fundamentals needed to progress in competitive soccer at the older ages. Winning games is not the focus of the Academy and while games will be played, no standings will be kept throughout the season. Academy players are required to purchase a travel level uniform: red jersey, white jersey, navy shorts, red socks, and white socks. Academy teams often play multiple games in a given day, usually located at big clubs in Westfield, Carmel, and Indianapolis.
The Academy White Program is a developmental training program for recreation level soccer players, generally ages 7-8, who are looking for the next step. The White team is specifically designed for kids who have never played at a competitive level. All players transitioning to the Academy, regardless of age, will play for the White team for one season before they progress to the Red teams. The White Teams compete in ISL Levels 3 and 4, and in some cases 5 when there is an all U8 group.
The Academy Red Program is for players who have played at least one season with the Academy or in a similar competitive program. The Red Teams compete in ISL Levels 1 and 2, and are comprised mostly of 9 and 10 year old players. Academy Red is the last stop before transitioning to the Classic Travel Program.
Classic Travel:
Classic Travel Soccer is a program for those girls and boys aged 10-18 who want a more competitive level of play than recreational soccer offers. Travel soccer is a one season commitment (fall, spring or both available). There are generally 8 games, 4 at home and 4 away, as well as a tournament each season. Depending on division (North or Central), away games can be located up to 2 hours away. However, most games are within an hour and a half. Classic players are required to purchase a travel level uniform: red jersey, white jersey, navy shorts, red socks, and white socks.
Red Shirt Program:
Our Red Shirt Program is for players who are not quite ready for either classic travel or the specific competitive level that their age group is registering in. Red Shirt players pay a minimal fee and train with the team all season to help bring their skills to the level of the team. Red Shirt players are not gaurantee any playing time in games, however, there is often time opportunity for them to experience an actual game. These players are not required to purchase uniforms.
