Competitive FAQ's

What will tryouts look like?

The tryout will consist of technical work, small sided games and full field play in some age groups.

What will players be evaluated on?

Players will be evaluated on their technique, tactical understanding, physiological make up and physical abilities. We want to see if players are being creative, if they are comfortable on the ball and making good decisions.  All BSC players are also evaluated on an ongoing basis throughout both the fall and spring seasons to both monitor their development and make sure that the level of play is appropriate for their development.

Do players need to attend all nights of tryouts?

Yes they do. It is important for coaches to see the players all nights. If your player is unable to attend one of the nights please let the coaches in their age group know so they can plan accordingly.

How do I register for Tryouts?

All players must register online to participate in tryouts.  This greatly streamlines the process, and assures that the players are on the field as much as possible, not standing in line waiting to register.  Registration for spring tryouts opens in April.  Please check the website prior to tryouts for registration information.

Is there a fee to tryout?

No, we invite all players who are interested in playing competitive soccer to try out for free.

When are tryouts?

Tryouts for U11-U19 girls and U11-U15 boys will take place at the Broomfield Commons on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday following Memorial Day.  For U15-U19 boys, tryouts are held in July.

When can I expect to have an offer for a roster spot on a team?

Coaches will offer roster spots via email the evening after each tryout session until their roster is full (there may be instances where communication will not come until the following morning).  All players will receive communication from a coach each day via email with their current standing.  If you have not heard from a coach by noon the day after a tryout session, please contact [email protected].

Parent involvement during tryouts.

Parents will be asked to sit away from the field during the tryout. Coaches and staff will need space to properly evaluate the players. Parents can also be a distraction to their players during an already stressful time.  Most parents choose to leave the fields during tryouts.

What do I do if I have an issue with a coach or staff member?

If you have concerns about your child, please talk with your child’s coach first.  If there is an issue during a game, please wait 24 hours before contacting the coach.  If your issue is not resolved with the coach, please contact the Age Group Manager.  If you need further support, please contact the Director of Coaching.  All contact information can be found on Page 1 of the Blast Player Packet or on the BSC website.
