FAQs

Spring Baseball Season Details

What time and days are the games?

The games times and days are dependent of what division the player is in. The season will be driven by the number of players and teams in each division. The schedule is subject to change until registration is final.  Generally there is 1 evening game during the week (Monday-Thursday) and one game on Saturday.

Where do the teams practice?

Location details for practices will be communicated by your coach once the season begins.

What do we do with the Medical Release forms?

The Medical Release forms should be completed and given to your Team Head Coach/Manager.  They will keep all completed forms with them and bring them to all games and practices. This is information that can assist the coach if there is an injury to a player and the parents cannot be located or are not at the practice or game. These should be given to the coach and not any other league officials.  The coach will collect these at the beginning of the season and the player can't practice until the Medical Release form is provided to the coach.

Uniforms and Equipment

What does EMLL provide for uniforms and what is the responsibility of the parents

EMLL will provide every player with a team hat and a numbered uniform shirt. The parent will need to provide the pants, socks and belt for the uniform. Team Managers/Head Coaches will notify the parents of what color pants, socks and belt they should purchase.  Parents are also required to provide appropriate footwear for the player, a glove, a bat, and batting helmet.  Protective cups for male players are highly recommended in the Pee Wee and Farm divisions, and are required for Rookie, AA, AAA, Major, Junior and any player in the catcher position in any division.

Player Evaluations

What happens at player evaluations and does every player make a team?

The player evaluations are conducted to assist coaches in forming the teams; every player will make a team. At player evaluations, each player will go through the following progression with the coaches watching: (1) 2-3 swings with ball being pitched by a pitching machine, (2) a run from home plate to second base, (3) field 2-3 ground balls at shortstop with throws to 1st base, and (4) field 2-3 fly balls to shortstop with throws to home.  For more information see our Try-Outs/Evaluations Page

What happens if my player is unable to attend player evaluations?

We ask that every player make every attempt to attend and participate player evaluations. In the event that a player is unable to attend, they will be put in a "blind" draw in the draft to create teams.  Essentially, they will be randomly added to a team.

What types of bats are allowed for use in Little League.

The USABat Standard is used for all divisions Majors and lower (Tee Ball, Machine Pitch, Sr. Minors, Jr. Minors and Majors). Only USABat approved bats are allowed for use in these divisions.  Additional information can be found here. A full list of approved bats can also be found at: https://usabat.com. The Juniors Division may use either USABat Standard bats or BBCOR bats.

Where do players in East Mesa Little League play their games?

All divisions of EMLL will play their games at Eastmark Softball Fields in Mesa.  The only exceptions are the Majors Division that play Friday Nights at Monterrey Park Fields and Juniors Division (Ages 12-14).  The Juniors Division inter-leagues with Little Leagues within our District (District 14), so their locations will vary.

Fall Baseball Season

Does East Mesa Little League (EMLL) offer a fall baseball season?

EMLL does not offer a fall baseball season; we only offer a spring baseball season. For our spring baseball season, we generally open registration in the mid-November timeframe and keep it open into January.  Evaluations are generally late January/early February.  Practices start in early February as well. Games for the season run from March through May. If you are interested in playing fall baseball, you can check with neighboring Little Leagues, as some of them may offer it.
