Durango, CO - October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and all the pink ribbons around town generate a lot of interest in supporting research and treatment for all types of cancer. As part of the G.O.A.L. Program onOctober 8 DYSA U11 girls team “Strike Force” decided to use their double header in Cortez to raise some money. The girls and their families worked to gain pledge dollars for every goal scored and lucky for the recipients the girls came out shooting. Strike Force scored two goals against Cortez in a 2-0 victory and 7 goals against Telluride for a 7-6 victory. As a result the team donated $680.00 to the Womens Health Coallition of Durango. The money donated will go to fund grants for cancer patients receiving treatment at Mercy Medical Center.
