Florida Elite Player Selected to England Squad
Jessica Osborne, Selected to Attend England Women’s Under-17 Camp
Saint Johns, Florida (February, 15th, 2022) — Florida Elite 2005 Girl’s ECNL player, Jessica Osborne has been named to the England Women’s Under-17 Team to take part in their fixture camp beginning February 17th, 2022 at St. George’s Park, England.
“We, as a club, are immensely proud of Jessica and the pathway she has taken,“ said Florida Elite Executive Director, Sean Bubb. “The England call up is well deserved and she is going to go and do exceptionally well.”
Jessica has played a key role in the success of our 2005 Girl’s ECNL team, who qualified for the ECNL National Playoffs last summer, after finishing the regular season on top of the Southeast Conference standings.
Shortly after, Jessica verbally committed to continuing her academic and athletic career at Auburn University, where she credits her teammates and the high standards set by the Florida Elite coaching staff, for playing a major role in her success and recognition as a player amongst college coaches and national team scouts.
“My teammates have played a huge role in my success by always being there for me and always pushing me to be my best. I was put into a position where I needed to work to not only try and be the best, but to stand out. Everyone around me is so good and always works their hardest, and I had to as well,” said Osborne. “I also feel like my game has turned up to a whole other level, that I didn’t even think I could achieve, until I came to Florida Elite. The mentality, the training environment, and the coaching I have received has definitely played a huge role in changing my game completely.”
When it comes to a player's individual success, their coach can develop a structure and a pathway which aids them in their journey towards accomplishing their goals, but ultimately, it comes down to the player’s drive and determination to make it happen.
“We, as coaches, can set the standards but the player has to meet them,” said Bubb. “She has, and is always pushing for more. That mindset and mentality is really the differentiator and makes her truly special, and makes this reward and this success well earned.”
Not only is this an amazing honor for Jessica and her family, but a huge honor for our club as well. Florida Elite has had a history of success with past and present players getting an opportunity to represent their country and we take great pride in helping our players achieve those aspirations.
Osborne is set to join the England Women’s Under-17 squad on Thursday, February 17th, 2022 at St. George’s Park for a week-long camp in preparation for round two of qualifications for the European Championships, which will take place in early March.
