(Morgantown, W. Va.) November 15, 2019 - Mountaineer United Soccer Club (MUSC) today announced a two-year sponsorship program with Leidos, a FORTUNE^® 500 science and technology leader headquartered in Reston, Va. and with offices in Morgantown. 

Starting with the fall 2019 soccer season, the Leidos logo will be featured on the front of all MUSC GrassRoots U6-U19 league jerseys.  Beyond the financial support the sponsorship brings, MUSC and Leidos look forward to inspiring STEM related careers in the community.

As a science and technology solutions company, Leidos looks to provide answers to some of the biggest problems in the world pertaining to national security, health and engineering. Those familiar with Major League Soccer (MLS) may recognize the Leidos name as the jersey sponsors of D.C. United since 2014. Leidos also has sponsorship ties with the Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, Washington Mystics, and Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Maryland.

Leidos commitment to the sports world has also extended beyond the realm of professional sports. As a sponsored youth soccer club, MUSC is happy and proud to announce that Leidos will now be the official jersey front sponsor of our GrassRoots (Recreation) youth soccer programs for two years (4 seasons)! Starting in the fall (2019) soccer season, the Leidos logo will be featured on all GrassRoots U6-U19 soccer league jerseys club-wide. This includes both our Cheat Lake and Laurel Point based teams. While jersey sponsorships are not new for professional and travel soccer teams, sponsorship of youth and recreation soccer is unique locally and rare nationally.

As THE community soccer club for Monongalia County, MUSC has an additional focus geared towards helping position future generations for success and healthy lifestyles. This sponsorship not only helps the club control costs, but with the name Leidos involved, will help inspire local youth to look towards STEM related education, where they may one day help solve the tough challenges of tomorrow.
