This season the Prince William County Girls Softball Little League will stream select games live over the internet. This technology known as “Webcasting” will allow family and friends to watch live video and audio of the games over the internet wherever they may be.
The games webcast will be select Minors, Majors and Seniors games at Tyler Majors Field. The live webcasts will be accessible through the League website and recordings of the games will be accessible on the archived games page of the website. This feature will allow your relatives, whether they live in Haymarket or Italy, to watch their athlete play live without having to come to the field. It is also a great option for parents that might split time between activities with different children to watch the games live.
The webcasts utilize a YouTube video stream that will be accessible through the League website. The webcast can be watched on PC and Mac computers, iPhone and Android mobile phones and Smart TVs that have the YouTube app.
The Safety and Privacy of our athletes is of upmost importance to PWCGSLL. To ensure the maximum amount of safety for the players, the live webcasts will only be advertised to parents and players that are currently registered for this season. Players will only be identified by their first name and number on the webcast and the quality of the video will not be high enough definition to identify a player by their face or other identifying features. The live and recorded webcasts will not be advertised or searchable on the main YouTube platform.
Little League rules request that PWCGSLL collect Model Release forms for all players that will participate in the webcasts. Coaches in the Minors, Majors and Seniors divisions will be passing out and collecting these forms during the first few weeks of the season. It is imperative that the forms be returned with a signature from the athlete’s parent or guardian as soon as possible. Failure to collect all the signed forms may result in a team (and the team they would be playing) not being able to participate in the webcasts.
