DC Stoddert's Travel Program offers Goalkeeper Training every Friday during the season for players U10 and up. The sessions are one hour and each Travel Team is encouraged to send one or more goalkeepers each week.
Program Philosophy
DC Stoddert strives to get all goalkeepers in the club to build a solid foundation of using their hands and feet while making good choices in games. Training is structured to combine handling and footwork.
Adding to basic handling and movement, our goalkeeping staff incorporates the concept of "Eyes, Feet, Hands:" Eyes help our players see the ball and recognize situations; Feet help the player move and adjust to stay involved and in play as a player on the field; and hands help handle the ball and distribute following making a save.
Statistically speaking, according to the English FA and UEFA, 60% when a Goalkeeper deals with the ball it’s at their feet meaning more of players being forced to move with the ball at their feet which is why DC Stoddert emphasizes technical adeptness for all players.
