Coaches:
Program will be facilitated by SVFC Executive Director Dan Jones, who will utilize older competitive High School players to help instruct the technical development of the players. The setting will be coach-instructed activities with multiple older players in the role of assistant coach. There will be a lot of individual discovery of the ball, and instruction on skills, but it will be more of a free form setting than than a traditional training session.
What:
This program provides recreational players an opportunity to "Discover" the competitive Player Pathway. At the PDP, players will be instructed on the foundation skills of soccer we refer to as the 5 R's: Running, Releasing, Receiving, Retaining, and Regaining. All sessions will be 1 hour in length and will coincide with the In House Recreational Soccer Season. September-November (Fall) and March-May (Spring).
Skills are the tactical implementation of technique. Players will learn skills with the ball and then be placed into games to implement these techniques in decision based learning. This is where technique becomes Skill!
If your child is a Under 7+ Recreational player and has an interest to pursue the Competitive Pathway, then this is the program for you. This program is designed for players that are self motivated, driven and enthusiastic about their soccer.
Important notes to consider when registering:
This program is open to all recreational players and Advanced Prep U9/10's. Players will be consistently evaluated and only those players that showcase behaviors that are conducive to the training environment will be invited back. If your child is motivated and shows discipline appropriate for the age group then they can continue to participate. Refunds will be given to players not invited to return.
