Mandatory Background Check

All volunteer coaches must have an active background check in the Sports Engine system (they are good for 2 years) or complete a background check prior to holding their team's first practice. You will be contacted by the league to register in this system once you sign up to volunteer on the registration page. You must be cleared by PA Babe Ruth in order to enter the field with the players. Please contact [email protected] with any questions.

Coach FAQs

Will my child be on my team? Yes
Do I need to attend EVERY practice and game? No, it is rare for any volunteer coach to be able to attend all events without the inevitable conflict. Other parents on the team will fill in for you in your absence
Will I have a dedicated assistant coach? Probably. If not, you'll recruit one at your first practice.
What equipment do I need to bring? We supply Equipment Bags (baseballs, bats, helmets, catcher's gear) prior to your first practice. We recommend that you bring a glove and any other practice implements you might need.
I can't handle the paperwork and communication! There is nearly zero paperwork - we use the Dick's Team Sports HQ App - get it! You'll have the schedule and team discussions at your fingertips.
