Coaches:
All SVFC recreational coaches are volunteers and have the opportunity to be professionally trained and many are licensed through USSF and USC (formally NSCAA). Although we prefer it, no experience is required. At SVFC, coaches are provided with the tools they need to succeed. We offer numerous coaching clinics, pay for coach licensing, host multiple informational meetings, provide age specific coaching curriculum, and conduct SVFC staff led sessions in order to educate both the coach and player. All coaches go through a comprehensive state and national background check. If you would like to volunteer and become part of St. Vrain FC coaching team, register as a coach when you sign-up your child.

What:
Recreational soccer at these ages is run by Colorado Youth Soccer (CSA) offering both fall and spring 8-game seasons for both a boys and girls. The cost per season is $250. All players wear the St. Vrain FC Nike Travel Rec uniform kit available at soccer.com. Players must wear shin-guards covered by socks. Soccer or another type of athletic shoe is acceptable as long as they do not have the front toe cleat. Participants play 7v7 with goalkeepers, practicing 1-2 days per week, and games consist of 2 twenty-five minute halves with referees. All players receive a minimum of 50% playing time. We do our best to honor special requests when possible, and try to place kids on teams in their area or school. If requesting to play with another registrant, please be sure both kids request each other. Please review the Recreational Team Formation Policy for more details.

Where:
Games – Home games will be played in Longmont, while away games will be played usually in the front range region (Westminster, Boulder, Golden, Denver, etc). CSA attempts to place teams regionally, and based on the perceived skill level of each team. The game locations are determined by the teams within the division. Practices – Location/Day/Time vary from team to team, and are set by the volunteer coach.

When:
Fall Season – Fall soccer begins with practices in late August, and the 8-game season last from the first Saturday after Labor Day through the first Saturday of November. Spring Season – Spring soccer begins with practices the first week in March, and games begin on the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of March. The season is completed before school ends.

Who: Recreational Players U7-U10 and U9/U10 Advanced Prep Players

Coaches:
Program will be facilitated by SVFC Assistant Director of Coaching Josh Beaty, who will utilize older competitive High School players to help instruct the technical development of the players. The setting will be coach-instructed activities with multiple older players in the role of assistant coach. There will be a lot of individual discovery of the ball, and instruction on skills, but it will be more of a free form setting than than a traditional training session.

What:
This program provides recreational players an opportunity to "Discover" the competitive Player Pathway. At the PDP, players will be instructed on the foundation skills of soccer we refer to as the 5 R's: Running, Releasing, Receiving, Retaining, and Regaining. All sessions will be 1 hour in length and will coincide with the In House Recreational Soccer Season. September-November (Fall) and March-May (Spring).

Skills are the tactical implementation of technique. Players will learn skills with the ball and then be placed into games to implement these techniques in decision based learning. This is where technique becomes Skill!

If your child is a Under 7+ Recreational player and has an interest to pursue the Competitive Pathway, then this is the program for you. This program is designed for players that are self motivated, driven and enthusiastic about their soccer.

Important notes to consider when registering:

THIS IS NOT A TEAM. THERE WILL NOT BE WEEKLY GAMES. THIS IS AN INDIVIDUAL PLAYER PROGRAM. IF YOU WANT TO REGISTER FOR A TEAM PLEASE REACH OUT TO [email protected]

This program is open to all recreational players and Advanced Prep U9/10's. Players will be consistently evaluated and only those players that showcase behaviors that are conducive to the training environment will be invited back. If your child is motivated and shows discipline appropriate for the age group then they can continue to participate. Refunds will be given to players not invited to return.
