Thank you for your interested in becoming a Coach in the Midlakes Babe Ruth program!
Midlakes Babe Ruth (MBR) would like to thank you for your interest in volunteering to coach in our league. It is the mission of MBR to provide the highest level of baseball instruction to our young men and women registered to our program.
MBR does not place an emphasis on winning, but winning and losing is part of any sport and we at MBR want our players to understand that. With that being said, MBR wants to provide all players, regardless of latent athleticism, the necessary skills, discipline and understanding of the game of baseball to succeed at all levels. MBR also wants to instill a competitive nature in all players and a genuine enthusiasm for the game. Respect of the game, their teammates, coaches and opponents, and more importantly themselves will be a driving force for this program.
MBR wants its coaches to be able to have the resources needed to succeed and compete at a high level. MBR strives to provide as much coaching education as possible, as well as a well networked team of professionals and individuals willing to provide peer to peer education and assistance to our coaches.
How to Sign Up
You can sign up to coach two different ways. You can register on this site and go through the process either on your own or when you are registering a player for the season, or you can fill out a coaching application (Found HERE) and return it in person at a registration event or mail it to:

Volunteering to coach without a child in the program
MBR welcomes all volunteers regardless if they have a child in our program currently or not. Simply sign up to coach and your application will be considered.
New Coaches
MBR makes it easy for a new coach to have access to all the information they need to start off on the right foot. Coaching clinics are required for all coaches, so you don't have to feel that you are not going to get the proper guidance. See our coaches tools page for information on drills, education, certifications for all divisions. There is also a link to the Babe Ruth Rules and Regulations book.
Coaches who have never coached for MBR in the past are required to attend a new coach seminar, regardless of their experience. This gives a new coach a chance to introduce themselves, understand the expectations the Board has and ask questions.
Background Checks
All MBR coaches are REQUIRED to have a criminal background check completed by this league. These checks are good for a period of two years, at which point a new form will need to be completed. These are not credit checks and are free to the volunteer.
In 2018 the federal government passed the Safe Sports act. As such ALL coaches will need to complete the Abuse Prevention Systems training located HERE. Midlakes Babe Ruth will reimburse all coaches for the $10 single user fee once a coach has completed the training and forwarded us their certificate.
Rules and Regulations
All MBR are required to read and understand this leagues Coaching Rules and Regulations (found HERE). They are also required to read and sign the Coaching Code of Conduct. If at any time the Board of Directors feels that a coach has violated the Code of Conduct, disciplinary action will be taken, including, but not limited to, removal of the coach from the program.
If you have any questions regarding coaching, please look under the coaching section of this webpage, or email [email protected]
Thank you,
Midlakes Babe Ruth
