Kelly LaLonde has been named the BFSC 2017 Girls Traveling Coach of the Year for her efforts with the U16C2 team. This year, the team earned promotion to C1 status for the 2018 season by winning its league and claiming titles at both the Maplebrook Tournament and Burnsville FIRE Cup. More important was the style of play the team employed. They set the standard for how our teams should look as they progress through the system. Kelly joined BFSC in the fall of 2016, returning to the community she grew up playing in. Here’s what some of the nominators said about Coach LaLonde:

“She boosted our confidence on and off the field, she helped us grow as a group and as individual players, and she trained us in a way that applied to the game."

"She cares about teaching us the game, rather than winning, but helped us do that often. She used constructive criticism in helping us identify bad habits and then helped us to fix them."

"Coach helped all of us set goals and then achieve them."

"Kelly grew tremendously this season. She clearly understands what she's doing in regard to soccer, and proved to be someone who really wants to keep learning and getting better at what she does - even in areas that may be uncomfortable at first. That sets a good example for the kids."
