FAQ

Q: What is the expected commitment? Do I have to give up on other sports?
A:  DC Stoddert Soccer’s U7/U8 Juniors program is aimed at the long-term development of players, which requires a commitment to consistent practice. This does not mean players cannot player other sports. Players in these young ages are encouraged to play other sports for more well-rounded development.

Q: What will the coaches focus on in training?
A: Individual Player Development. One player on one ball. Technical training will be a priority in order to develop the fundamental skills necessary to be successful in later years. Long term skill development is essential. Coaches will introduce tactical decision making, physical development, and psychological development, while all the time developing a love of the game of soccer.

Q: Do players need to wear anything specific to practice?
A: Players are asked to wear comfortable sports clothes, soccer socks pulled over their shinguards, and cleats or indoor soccer shoes/tennis shoes as well as bringing and inflated size 3 ball and water to each practice.

Q: What does the U7/U8 Juniors Program expect from parents?
A:
1. Arrange to get your child to training and play days on time
2. Be supportive of your child and fellow DC Stoddert Juniors members
3. Leave the coaching to the coaches (cheer, but do not coach)
4. Encourage them to get the ball out on their own free time
5. Trust the process. Some games and drills may not look intuitive but all have a purpose

Q: Can a player do both the Juniors program and the Recreational Program at the same time?
A:
Yes, players not only can but are encouraged to stay with their Recreational team while participating in the Juniors program. Games will never conflict, and if a practice does, the player has the option to choose which practice they attend.
