Soccer Team Options

Little Bees

Formed in the fall of 2018, Little Bees is designed for 3-4 yr old players to get their first taste of soccer in Medina.  Little Bees are introduced to new skills with a trainer,  "Little Bee keeper", on a program that is designed to introduce our youngest players to the wonders of Soccer.

Recreation Soccer

A program usually run/hosted by a city where all children that sign-up are put on a team and playing time is balanced as much as possible between all kids. The program is usually per season (Fall, Spring, etc.) in length. Parents volunteer as coaches. Practices usually are once a week with one game per week. All games are usually played within the city that sponsors the program and there are usually 6-8 games per season. Ballpark cost per season $70-$100 per player. Great for all ages with basic competition.

Travel Soccer

A program run/hosted by a city where players try-out for a team and playing time is based on performance and not always balanced.  The program is usually a one year commitment between tryouts. (3-4 seasons) There are usually 8-10 games per season for league games and then options to play in tournaments that are either local or involve overnight travel. Half of your games are usually played within the city that sponsors the program and half in other cities you play against.  Usually two practices per week in the city that sponsors the program, one game per week. Depending on the city, parents act as coaches or there are paid trainers. Ballpark cost per year is $350-$650 per player, and does not include tournaments. Players are responsible for buying uniforms. This is a higher level of competition for players which can start at 8 years old and go up to 14 or 15 year olds.

MSA (Medina Soccer Association) currently offers our Classic’s travel teams for girls and Ranger’s travel teams for boys.  These teams currently compete in the OHTSL league with teams such as Strongsville, Hudson, Highland, Mentor, Bay Village, Brunswick, Twinsburg, etc.  Most games are on Sundays, with practices during the week.

Club Soccer

A program run by a separate company or organization where players try out for a team and playing time is based on performance.  The program is usually a one year commitment between tryouts. (3-4 seasons per year) There are usually 8-10 games per season for league games and then options to play in tournaments that are either local or involve overnight travel. Games can be anywhere depending on the league you play in, usually two practices per week that can be in any city and be changed from season to season. Paid trainers are used for coaches.  Ballpark cost per year is $1500-$4000 per player, does not include tournaments.  Players are responsible for buying uniforms. This option usually provides the highest competition available and can start at any age and go up to age 18.

There are a wide range of Club teams available in Northeast Ohio, for more info please feel free to contact someone at MSA or you current travel coach/trainer.
