Tee Ball is a division offered in the spring season for both boys and girls ages 5 and 6 (view age chart for boys or view age chart for girls). Players league age 4 will need to wait until the following season to begin playing Tee Ball.
COACHES NEEDED!
Coaching Tee Ball is not difficult. It's more like supervising than coaching, and we're here to help. When you sign your child up for Tee Ball this spring, make sure to sign up as a head coach or assistant coach as well. We will provide each team with two practice plans and a pre-game warmup plan. The more parents available to help, the better. And most importantly, if we cannot find someone to step up to coach your child's Tee Ball team, then that team will not be able to play. Don't let that happen!
For 2017, EBYBS is going to make some major changes to help improve the division. 1) Attempt to assemble teams with fewer players; a goal of 7 players per team (we need more coaches/team supervisors than ever before), 2) Each inning will begin with the last two batters in the batting order on first base and second base so kids are spending less time on the bench, 3) Allow batters to reach second base on big hits to the outfield, 4) Outs will be counted, but teams will still bat through their entire order each inning. This division serves as an introduction to baseball with teams mostly formed based on the elementary school they attend (varies on participation). The purpose for this division is to introduce your child to the game of baseball and to have fun learning the basics of hitting, catching, throwing, and base running. All players will hit a safety ball from a hitting tee and do their best to make a play in the field. Score will not be kept during games and there will be no divisional winners or end of season tournament.
NOTE: Players that are league age 6 and already excel in throwing, fielding, and hitting a moving ball, may consider requesting the ability to play up to the Rookies division.
