Congratulations to the 2017 FHE Hawks Cross Country Team
The NC Homeschool State Cross Country Meet was held at Hagan Stone Park in Pleasant Garden, NC on October 13. The FHE cross country teams had an excellent performance bringing home 2 trophies and 11 medals.
The girls' race included a total of 87 girls from 9 different teams. FHE finished in 1st place for the 7th consecutive year! The winning time in the 5K race was 21:12. The top 5 runners on the girls team were Anna Hamilton, Taylar White, Jessee Smid, Addie Slate, and Sydney Chandler. Individual medalists were Anna Hamilton - 1st place high school, 1st place overall, Taylar White - 1st place middle school, 2nd place overall, and Jessee Smid - 5th place middle school, 10th place overall.
There were 153 total runners in the boys' race from 11 teams. FHE place 2nd. The winning time in the 5K race was 17:14. The top 5 runners on the team were William Hamilton, Benjamin Smid, Isaiah Garner, Ian Jenkins, and James Rogers. Individual medalists were William Hamilton - 1st place high school, 1st place overall, Benjamin Smid - 5th place high school, 5th place overall, and Josiah Gordon - 5th place middle school, 41st overall.
There were four seniors on the team this year: Isaac Carrico, Isaiah Garner, Anna Hamilton, and Addie Slate. All will be greatly missed next season!

2016-17 Basketball Highlights
Varsity Boys Basketball had a 26-19 record. 2nd in CCC, 4th in NCHEAC, and won the 3A bracket at Nationals
2016 Varsity Soccer
Great season ending with a16-4-2 record. Qualified for National championship game and finished in 2nd place to a 28-0 team.

2016 NC Junior Girls' Golf Champion
Emily Hawkins from our FHE HomeSchool Golf Team won the North Carolina Junior Girls’ Golf Championship last Friday! That is a very big win and she did it in style. First of all, there are two rounds of stroke play to determine the 31 players who go into match play (defending champion is exempt from qualifying). Emily shot 151 to easily qualify for match play. Then she won her first match 4&2, second match 1 up, third match 4&3. That led to the semi-finals against the qualifying medalist. She beat her 2&1. In the finals match against the defending champion, Emily prevailed 4&3. That is a fantastic win for a great young lady! As her team knows, she is a very tough competitor and we are very proud of her performance.
