CoCounty Board Meeting

The proposed rule about dual participation by players will be discussed at an open forum at the end of the meeting. Here is the rule as drawn up now...

Dual Participation:

(Ages 8-12) While we feel that CoCounty Youth Baseball provides a competitive atmosphere for our membership, we understand that some players/parents look to supplement the league with club or travel baseball.  As per Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth rules, CoCounty is adopting the following rule beginning Spring season in 2018...

While CoCounty (CYBA, VYB, HYS, MSR) cannot dictate where people go to play, Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth does have a rule in place that does allow local leagues to address dual enrollment.

—CoCounty registered players have to wait until regular season is over and all-star teams are formed before they can begin actively practicing, participating and playing on other teams that are not chartered by CoCounty.

CoCounty encourages all players invited to attend try outs for all-stars. Those players that are invited and refuse to try out, will be in direct violation of this rule.

Any player who is found actively practicing, participating and playing on another team outside of the CoCounty umbrella, prior to all-star selection, is in direct violation of this rule.

If a player is practicing, participating or playing on another team that doesn’t have a group accident insurance policy and a commercial general liability policy in place while actively participating in CoCounty, it is a direct violation of the insurance policy purchased though CoCounty.

If a coach is found actively practicing, participating, or recruiting players to join a team outside the CoCounty umbrella, while coaching under the charter of CoCounty, he or she will be removed from the team as coach, and is found in direct violation of this rule.

Any and all violations will be handled directly by the Co County board for further discussion and potential action.—
