A RELATIONSHIP worth more than Gold  DRIVE TiMe
Take care of Momma, FIRST (before your kids)! You teach your son the best lessons as you live your life. Cherish your bride! Love her selflessly. Love her sacrificially. Make sure she is the second most important relationship of your life (your Heavenly Father is first).

Your son is watching how you put your pants on each morning, how you mow the lawn, how you walk and how you sit. He emulates your every move! This should scare you a little. He’s probably going to pick up your good habits along with the bad. Love well!

Think of your bride as more important than yourself. Treat her like royalty. Open the door for her. Wait for her with anticipation. Look for ways to serve her. Tell her she is beautiful. Work to understand her heart. Take time to listen to her. Ask her questions that are thoughtful and allow her to share her feelings with you. Be tender and caring with your words and your actions.

When you make mistakes, and you will make mistakes, be quick to ask for forgiveness. Be even faster to forgive. Pursue her heart. Know what she likes and do it for her. Know how to compliment her. Learn to give her a hug that says to her everything is going to be ok!

Your son is watching you. He’s learning how to love as he shares life with you. He’s learning how much patience to have as he watches you.

His trust in you will grow as he watches you love his momma. His ability to love selflessly, without expectations, will develop if you model selfless love for him.

Keep Christ at the center of your life and you will be successful in loving your bride and raising your son.

Let’s be honest some days it’s easier to go to work than it is to be a husband and a father. Some days you have expectations that are unmet. You have desires that go unfulfilled. Some days life is hard, sometimes you have entire seasons of life that are a grind.

Fight the good fight. Persevere! The rewards are eternal (so are the consequences). How does your son become a man that brings glory to God through his love for others? He watches you love his Momma! He watches you consider her more important than yourself! EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT MARRIED ANYMORE.

Editor’s note: The Drive Time feature will include questions that you can ask your son while driving to and from practice or games concerning the VALUE lesson the coach is teaching each week.

1.  What is the topic of this week’s value lesson?

2.  What Bible verses did the coach use?

3.  How would you define meekness?

4.  What are three keys to meekness?

PSO method of dealing with conflict

"If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or tax collector.”  Matthew 18.15-17

     1.  Deal with the conflict personally and on a one-to one basis

     2.  Be honest

     3.  Forgiveness is the goal

     4.  Appeal to others if necessary
