Parkrose Colts go 8-0

Crowned 2008 Portland Police Athletic League city champions, the 8-0 Parkrose Colts third/fourth-grade football team had a season to remember. An undefeated season – at any level of competition – is no mean feat. Especially the way these little men of football did it: defeating teams from eight disparate parts of Portland.

The Parkrose Colts fifth/sixth-grade team also had a successful campaign, going 7-1 during the regular season and finishing third in the 11-team PAL championship tournament with an 8-2 overall record.

“I’m really proud of the boys; they really shined this year,” said Jim Caudle, the Parkrose Colts fifth/sixth-grade coach. “They shine every year. I’m proud of all my teams, particularly this team because they really came together as a team – the fifth- and sixth-graders did and also the third- and fourth-graders.” Caudle said he sees more than a few players with major talent heading upstream through the program. More good news for Tim Price, head coach at Parkrose High School, as the seventh- and eighth-grade teams at Parkrose Middle School went 5-2 and 6-1, respectively; the eighth-graders finished first in their league.
