In keeping with our "community based and child focused" mission, Ridge Youth Sports has formed a partnership with the Bernards Township Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse. The Alliance's mission of to educate our community, and in particular adolescents, about the dangers of substance abuse is in keeping with our mission. THE CHARLES J. HARCOURT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Ridge Youth Sports, Inc. (RYSI) is pleased to offer two $500 scholarships (one male and one female) for graduating seniors pursuing collegiate or trade education after high school.

The Ridge Youth Sports, Inc. – Charles J. Harcourt Memorial Scholarship is given in memory of Chuck Harcourt, a founding member of RYSI, Basking Ridge Resident and loving husband and father who died in 2014.

Ridge Youth Sports, Inc. (RYSI) is a community based, child-focused organization, which provides instructional and competitive programs for the benefit and enjoyment of the children that participate. The program focuses on life and athletic skill development, personal growth and fun. The goal of this organization is to instill life-long enjoyment and understanding of sports.

The foundation of Ridge Youth Sports is based on the seven principles of Fair Play.

1. Make it Fun

2. Limit Standing Around

3. Everyone Plays

4. Teach Every Position to Every Participant

5. Emphasize the Fundamentals

6. Incorporate a Progression of Skill Development for Every Participant

Scholarship Requirements:

· One male and one female Ridge High School Senior will be selected.

· Applicant must have participated in at least one Ridge Youth Sports, Inc. program between grades K-8.

· Applicant must have a GPA of 3.00 or higher.

· Applicant must have committed to either a college or trade school.

· Applicant must provide a one page letter of how they represent the ideals of Ridge Youth Sports in every-day life, how they support our community and how they demonstrate character and leadership.

· Applicant may provide two letters of recommendation.

2024 Social Media Volunteer

Individuals must have:

Experience with video editing apps (CapCut, Splice, Instagram Reels, etc.)
A good phone/good camera that can shoot quality footage (cinematic or HD capability)
**Time to attend some practices and/or games to capture photos and videos
Minimum of 10 service hours per individual

Students would be asked to:

Sign up to attend certain games, practices and clinics throughout the season
Capture photos and videos while onsite
Create “reels” with footage
Draft captions for photos and videos that will eventually be posted to the pages

Prior to starting, individuals will be asked to attend a Zoom session to receive instructions and be educated on certain aspects of social media. Although students will not be managing the RYSI accounts directly, individuals will still be able to learn:

about posting guidelines and etiquette
how to draft captions and use hashtags
how to responsibly and appropriately engage with followers
how to brainstorm creative ideas for posts
how to effectively promote events and fundraisers via social media

Time during the following seasons will be available:

Boys Lacrosse: March – May
Girls Lacrosse: March – May

Please note that we would need individuals to devote a minimum of 10 service hours to this, as they’ll be attending some games/practices/events to get the footage, so if someone is too busy in the Spring, it might not be the ideal position for them. It takes some work, but it should be something super fun and unique for those that participate – a great thing for their resumes!
