PARENT EXPECTATIONS
Dear Parents,
Jamboree games have begun and it is hard to believe the 2025 season is upon us. As such, I want to take a moment to outline expectations regarding conduct during practices and games, as well as communication with our coaching staff, board members, and officials.
Youth sports should be a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants. It’s essential that we create an encouraging atmosphere for our players. To achieve this, I ask all parents:
-
Support Your Child and Team: Cheer positively for all players, regardless of the score, and regardless of your child’s playing time. Your support makes a significant difference in their experience and the spectators around you. Your child will build off your positivity or negativity, whichever you choose.
-
Respect the Coaches and Officials: Our coaches dedicate countless hours of time and effort to develop our players. As volunteers, they have gone through an evaluation by the board, and our coaches are doing the very best that they can to teach our players the fundamentals of football and give them a positive experience. While you may not always agree with their decisions, how they coach during a game, or how they coach during practices, please trust their decisions and avoid shouting instructions or criticism from the sidelines. We would also ask that you avoid coaching your child from the sidelines. This is a distraction to the team, the coaches, and most importantly your player. You’ll have plenty of time to talk to your child after practice or after the game.
-
Wait 24 Hours for Concerns: If you have concerns regarding game play or coaching decisions, we ask that you wait 24 hours after the practice or the game before addressing these issues directly with the head coach. This allows everyone time to reflect and ensures a more constructive conversation.
In the event that parents are found in violation of these expectations, the board will take prompt action when notified. The following disciplinary actions are how we intend to manage issues going forward.
Disciplinary Actions
-
Verbal Warning by Head Coach:
For first-time offenses, it is expected that the head coach would provide a verbal warning regarding inappropriate conduct and report this to the TYFL Athletic Director.
-
Meeting with Head Coach and TYFL Athletic Director:
Further disregard for following expectations will result in a meeting with the head coach, Athletic Director and the parent to discuss the behavior and its impact on the team.
-
Removal from the Program:
Further violations will lead to the parent being asked to leave the program entirely, which could affect their child's participation.
Appeals Process
Parents who feel they have been unfairly disciplined may request an appeal to the TYFL Board through the Athletic Director. This request must be made in writing within 7 days of the disciplinary action.
By adhering to these guidelines, we can foster a respectful environment that prioritizes the development and enjoyment of our players.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Sincerely,

Troy Arrington
