Sting tryouts registration is open!

Boys & girls with birth years 2016 through 2009 are invited to join Mount Vernon Sting for competitive club soccer tryouts May 30 – June 1, 2023, at MVNU's CH4 Stadium. Sting will form teams for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 seasons.

For tryouts, players should bring plenty of water and wear cleats, shin guards, and comfortable clothing. Returning Sting players should bring their pinnies. Parents should plan to stay for a short meeting at the start of their child's tryout time. Current Sting players are required to register and try out each year. If your child is unable to attend the dates listed below, you still must complete a registration form for him/her and request an alternate tryout time by email.

Sting teams play in Central Ohio competitive club soccer leagues (OCL/COPL) with practice and home game fields at the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and Cougar Drive. This fall our goal is to field all-girls and all-boys teams from U9 (2015/16) through U13 (2011), and coed teams for U14 (2010) and U15 (2009). Players are selected in June for teams that will compete in the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 seasons (player commitment is one full year). The annual cost to play two seasons for Sting is an average of $675–$700, including uniforms and tournaments (equal payments due in July and February). Sibling discounts and partial scholarships are available.
