Oaks Athletics

The Oaks Academy offers competitive athletic teams for 5th-8th grade students. The Oaks Academy participates in the Indianapolis Independent Schools League (IISL). The IISL is composed of 12 schools; The Oaks Academy, Park Tudor School, Sycamore School, Orchard School, Hasten Hebrew Academy, Bethesda Christian Academy, Traders Point Christian Academy, St. Richards Episcopal School, International School of Indiana, Kingsway Christian School, Indiana School for the Deaf, and Greenwood Christian Academy. 

The 2017-18 base price for Oaks students to register for a team is $110 per athlete. 

Oaks students eligible for free school lunch receive a 50% discount on registration fees and students eligible for reduced lunch receive a 25% discount.

Any Oaks student willing to attend consistently, work hard and do what he/she is supposed to do can participate in Oaks Athletics.

Beginning with the 2015-16 school year, The Oaks Academy athletic teams have new home facilities. Our home soccer field will be located west of our middle school where the Monon Trail crosses 16th Street at Frank & Judy O'Bannon Old Northside Soccer Park. Our volleyball and basketball teams will play home games at the JTV Hill Center located one block north of the middle school on 16th Street.

Transportation:
Transportation to away games will be provided from our middle school. Return transportation to our middle school will be provided for away games occurring outside of I-465. Fifth grade participants will need their own transportation from our Fall Creek campus or Brookside campus to practice, home games, and our middle school to catch the bus for away games. 


The Oaks Academy forms the following competitive athletic teams:

  Girls' Volleyball:
The Oaks Academy has volleyball for girls in 5th-8th grades. Girls are divided into JV and varsity teams. Teams practice or play 3-4 times per week during season. JV matches typically start between 4:30 and 5:00 pm followed by a varsity match. Volleyball practices begin in early August with matches beginning near the end of the month. The regular season ends in early October with the IISL tournament running into The Oaks Academy's fall break.

  Soccer:
The Oaks Academy has soccer for girls and boys in 5th-8th grades. The teams are coed and are divided into JV and varsity. Teams practice or play 3-4 times per week during season. Matches typically start between 4:30 and 5:00 pm. Soccer practices begin in early August with matches beginning near the end of the month. The regular season ends in early October with the IISL tournament running into The Oaks Academy's fall break.
  Boys' Basketball:
The Oaks Academy's boys' basketball divides 5th-8th grade students into JV and varsity teams. Practices begin in mid-October and games start in early November. Teams practice or play 3-4 times per week during season. JV games typically tip off between 4:30 and 5:00 pm with varsity games to follow. Games usually last about one hour. The regular season ends in late January and the IISL tournament is the first week of February.
   Girls' Basketball:
The Oaks Academy's girls' basketball divides 5th-8th grade students into JV and varsity teams. Practices begin after Thanksgiving and games usually begin in January. JV games will typically tip off between 4:30 and 5:00 pm with varsity games to follow. Games typically last about one hour. The regular season will end in late February and the IISL tournament will be the first week of March.
 

Track & Field:
Boys and girls in grades 5th through 8th practice together. Fifth and 6th graders practice/meet three times per week while 7th and 8th graders practice/meet four times per week. Practices begin in early March with meets beginning in April after spring break. At meets girls and boys compete separately. Regular meets include three to five teams and typically last two to two and a half hours. The IISL conference meet ends the season in mid-May.

Athletes may participate in up to four events.
