The 18U NJ ICEDOGS Take 1st Place

Coach Lotto and the 18U Team gave the Moms a Mother's Day to remember, as they went undefeated in the Hockey Boss Spring Classic at the Aspen Ice Rink in Randolph NJ. With the addition of some talented young players, the team jelled quickly, never letting on that they entered this weekend having had only one practice. After three well matched and competitive games, the ICEDOGS qualified for the championship, facing off with the also undefeated Frozen Tide.

The championship game was hard fought and well played by both sides, ending in a 2-2 tie. Hearts raced as the overtime clock was set to five minutes and the fast paced 3 on 3 format was put into action. After some tense back and forth, Danny Fridman came on the ice from a line change and raced down the boards with the puck. Securing victory with a well placed shot that snuck between the goalies leg pad and the left post. Congratulations to all of the boys who played their hearts out this weekend. You made us all proud and represented the organization well.

Special thanks to Coach Lotto, who for the past few years has given so much to the team and the organization. In a bitter sweet moment, some players were on the ice for the last time, as college will be their next adventure, while at the same time we got to see some of the younger players who will carry us into the future. One thing is for sure, players and parents alike will look back at this weekend and think "Those Sure Were Some Good Days!" Congratulations to all.

Long live the ICEDOGS!
