HLLA Majors Softball Division

The Major League division of softball is intended for those players league age 11-12 born between (consult the official little league age chart for more details). In practice, HLLA places some players who are league age 11 into our Minor League division if they have not had much experience playing softball before or there are other circumstances which make this the right choice. The decision on where to place a player is solely at the discretion of the HLLA board in consultation with the parents, coaches, and league coordinators.

HLLA typically fields around 1 or 2 teams in the majors division. These teams practice approximately twice a week during the pre-season starting early March. They typically play two games a week during the season up through the first week of June. Many of these games are on Field 2 at Purcell Park (the field nearest to the Hillside Ave. parking lot), but many are also played at away sites with neighboring little league teams such as Bridgewater, Broadway, Grottoes, or others.

Registration for majors softball will be held at the same time as all other HLLA registration: all Saturdays in February from 10 am to 1 pm in the Cecil F. Gilkerson Activities Center.  The cost of registration for this division is normally $65 which covers the cost of the uniform, visor specific to the team, and other league costs such as insurance, umpires for games, and maintenance.

Teams as selected by coaches in a draft format. To properly assess each player's skill level, we ask that after registering you bring them to the skills evaluation.
After the draft, you will be contacted by your coach about when practices will start..
