Overview:
Smoky Mountain Fields Instructional League will be a 3 week program.
The camp will offer instructional training at each position, proper base running  and simulated games that will ensure that the athletes will understand situations of the game.

Goal:
Our goal for this program is to train the youth of today in the proper mechanics of the
game of baseball. We want to ensure that when players reach the level of competitive baseball
that they understand the proper form and etiquette of baseball. To ensure that the athletes are
learning the correct way to perform, we will provide the best staff available in the area.

Instructors:
Smoky Mountain Fields Instructional program will consist of college coaches from the
surrounding area including Carson-Newman University and Maryville College. These coaches
are known for their excellent knowledge along with their attention to detail. They will provide
athletes with their undivided attention to become the best possible athletes that they can.

Instructional Program Parts
Infield: Athletes will learn the fundamentals of how to properly approach the baseball, proper
fielding position, proper footwork, etc. This will include positionally focused instruction as well.
Athletes will strive to become the smoothest players in the infield on their team.

Outfield: There are several different factors that are involved in becoming an exceptional
outfielder. This instructional will include factors such as: positioning, knowledge of where to
throw after the catch is made, proper form, first steps, etc. It is important to understand these
factors when becoming an outfielder.

Catching: Catchers are viewed as the “quarterback” of the baseball field. Athletes will learn
mentality, stance, receiving, blocking, throwing, etc. of being behind the dish. Instructions will
turn a catcher into a leader.

Pitching: Pitching involves velocity, accuracy, knowledge, and an attitude. A smart pitcher is
better than a mechanically correct pitcher. We will teach our athletes how to have the
confidence and the knowledge of how to be an effective pitcher. This does not mean that we are
avoiding teaching mechanics, we just feel that mechanics are not necessarily the most
important part of pitching. Athletes will receive mechanical advice as well.

Bunting: “Perhaps no other skill in baseball has been neglected more than bunting. You want to
be a better hitter, learn how to handle your barrel while bunting.” Athletes will be taught the
proper fundamentals of how to become an efficient bunter. This truly is a lost art that can benefit
athletes.

Hitting: Becoming a better hitter involves quality reps over the quantity of reps. Athletes will be
taught how to be consistent, understand your stance, and proper mechanics in all facets of the
swing. We focus on the quality of the swing for our athletes.

Base running: Base running is one of the most overlooked abilities in baseball. It is good if you
can get on base, it is great if you know how to run the bases once you get on. We will teach our
athletes how to be quick on the base paths along with knowing situations of when to advance to
the next base and when to stay at the base you are at. One of the biggest issues today is a
team being run out of an inning because their players do not know how to run the bases.

Refund Policy:  Refunds can be made prior to August 14th minus 4% processing fee.  After August 14th no refunds will be issued.
