Concession Policy FAQs

Will I have to work concession during my child's game?  How much time is a concession shift

Team concession duties will not fall during your team's game.  The team schedule will be communicated to head coaches/team moms before the beginning of the season.  Each shift will be a minimum of four (4) hours.  Weekday concession shift will be from 5:00 pm until the concession stand closes.  Saturday concession shift will be broken up into two separate shifts, the early shift being from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and the late shift from 12:30 pm to concession stand close.  Rainout shifts will be rescheduled to the makeup game date.

What if I can't find a sitter or one of my other kids has a game during my team's schedule concession time?

You could either reschedule your work day or work this issue out with your team's representative.  Sometimes, there are parents willing to work for other parents.  Your child needs representation by an adult (18+ years old) during your team's scheduled concession time.  It does not matter who that is.

Can someone cover my shift for me if I am unable?

Your child needs representation by an adult (18+ years old) during your team's scheduled concession time.  It does not matter who that is.

What if I forget about my scheduled time?  What is the penalty?

If you choose to not ‘buyout’ of concession coverage and in turn do not work the required time (or attempt to comply with rescheduling efforts), your player must sit out of each game until a $60.00 fine has been paid.  While we understand that concession coverage is an additional task for each of us, in order for Smyrna Baseball League to provide a place to obtain refreshments, we must rely on our active members to staff the area.

What happened to the $50.00 buyout amount?  Why did you change the amount?

We have taken into consideration the opinions that a $50.00 buyout amount is too much.  Please understand that our reasoning for that amount was to return to the previously used buyout amount.  We understand that the buyout is meant to place an amount for your time during your concession obligation, so we have lowered it to $40.00.  This is the reason for this buyout amount change.

Isn't $40.00 a little expensive for a buyout?  Why is it that much?

The $40.00 fee will cover the cost to pay a worker for your time slot if necessary.

Will there be training for those who have never worked in the concession stand?

There will be training every night before the start of the concession shift.  There will also be a board member on duty to answer any questions or help in any way.
