AC SAMOA 02 GIRLS

Our 02-03 team came through a dramatic last weekend of Region 3/4 play with a 0-0 tie in American Canyon and a 3-0 win in (extremely windy) Tracy. Goals from Kallia Yang and Klayre Barres sealed the Tracy victory -with all 3 goals coming in an 11-minute spell to open the second half.

The team played every single game 300 miles away from Humco. It’s unheard of for teams to have this kind of “away” record.

Special mention to Zoe, Kyla and Sere from our u14 squad who were highly influential and amazingly supportive “dual citizens” all season, and to Madie Evansizer who played 8 minutes in goal at American Canyon and kept her cool..and a (priceless) clean sheet.

U15 Take First At Redding Smash Cup.

Goalkeeper Keylei Carrol came up huge in a dramatic PK shootout for the championship. She saved 3 PKs (after Samoa was "dead and buried" on an 0-2 count)...and then she stepped up to smash home the winning PK.

Samoa U15 Gold has now climbed into the top 50 rankings in the State.

U15s place second in SRU Harvest Wine Cup

The U15 girls defeated the Ross Valley Breakers and Lobos United FC to move into the championship against a tough Santa Rosa United ECNL squad. AC Samoa pressed hard, in nearly 100 degree temperatures, causing numerous errors in the SRU defense. The effort, however, came up short with the narrowest of 1-0 defeats.

Coaching staff comments:"These young ladies are following in the famous footsteps of their 'big sisters', 9 of whom are currently playing college soccer. They have worked very hard on their fitness and team cohesion, and were able to withstand pretty brutal weather a long way from home. We are especially proud of the 1-0 loss to a team that flies all around the Northwest, competing in a National Division(Elite Clubs National League)."

U14s End Season with 5 Wins and 3 Ties

The AC Samoa U14s wrapped up league play with a shutout win over Vallejo. With five wins and three draws in their last nine games, they finished in third. Highlights included a very unlucky 1-0 loss to the champs, and a 0-0 tie with the second place team. The team will move back up to Gold for Fall.
Well done girls!

U14s take 2nd in Medford

AC Samoa Under 14 team opens up season with superb group effort in Santa Rosa.

The Samoans born in 02-03 are now officially under-14 under the new US Soccer birth year rules .

Sporting a new team motto (see photo) and spiffy new uniforms, they took to the road this past weekend with games in Rohnert Park and at Trione (home of Santa Rosa United).

The coaches were bitterly disappointed in the "unfit" field offered by Saturday hosts Rohnert Park. A 1-2 loss was clearly less than the Samoa team deserved as they dominated play in all areas of the field except perhaps the two 18yard boxes...and "thats how soccer goes".

On the Sunday, playing on a proper turf field against a well coached club (North Coast FC), AC Samoa were able to show their class in an excellent 0-0 tie between two "clean passing teams".

The coaching staff was especially complimentary of the work done by club head SC coach (Andy) and the 4 team captains (Nyah, Maddie, Klayre, Keylei) in moving the team during pre-season to a much more fit, feisty, and team- focussed place.

U13s Win Two in Novato. Remain Perfect in Gold League.

AC Samoa girls under thirteen(U13) soccer team moved into first place by defeating North Marin FC twice this weekend. Both games were played in Novato, and Samoa posted a 2-0 win and a 4-1 win. Goal-scorers were Grace Plessinger, Maddie Evansizer (PK), Zakiya Elloway and Sarah Killfoil(3).

Samoa moves into first place with the win in the Nor Cal Premier league (Gold Div) which is based in Marin/Santa Rosa. The team is 4 and 0 with only one goal allowed so far by a very stingy defensive unit.

Next week the team heads to the Harvest Wine Cup hosted by Santa Rosa United.

U13 open Gold League with 2 wins against Santa Rosa United.

AC Samoa took full advantage of their home games in Arcata this weekend -posting two 1-0 wins vs SRU Lightning that were "nail bitingly close" . ACS overcame injuries to both a Captain and a goalkeeper , and were forced to adapt their line up several times over the two games.

Head Coach comments:
A year ago we would have played well but lost 1-0. The girls have worked harder in preseason (with the SC coach) and the fitness was the difference, as several players made "game saving " defensive runs towards the end of both games. Any time you beat an SRU team you know you are on the right track....to beat them twice was even more than we hoped for."
Special mention: Rebecca Russ: who has only been with the team a few weeks and was forced into a major role when our defensive leader was injured. Becca saved several goals and showed greatly improved passing and composure.

U12s place 4th in Medford

The Rogue Valley Cup is the "traditional" end -of- soccer year event.
Our 4 teams played 5 games each over 3 days. With well over 150 teams from 5 states, the fact that Samoa took home three 4th place medals and a 2nd place is truly remarkable.
