USA Field Hockey Announces 2015 NIT Qualifier Assignments

As outdoor seasons are winding down and cold gear-clad champions are being made on grass and turf, clubs around the country are beginning to gear up for the 2014-15 indoor season. With the sounds of scuffed shoes and hockey balls clanking off of sideboards rapidly approaching, USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce the 2015 National Indoor Qualifying Tournament Assignments.

Coming off the heels of a record setting 2014 in terms of participation and inclusion, USA Field Hockey is looking optimistically at the coming 2015 National Indoor Tournament and National Indoor Tournament Qualifiers. The Under-16 and Under-19 Qualifying tournaments, running from mid-December to mid-February, will feature 600 indoor teams competing for a prized spot at the 2015 National Indoor Tournament.

A total of 31 host locations tout the excitement of a qualifying tournament and are set in Illinois, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia. Of the 600 teams, 40 percent in both age divisions will qualify to go on to fight for gold and glory on the national stage. Matches played at qualifying tournaments will be comprised of two 12 minute-halves and will follow a standardized schedule.

The first weekend of the 2015 National Indoor Tournament will feature the Under-16 Girls Division from February 20-22 at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa. The middle weekend of February 27-March 1 will see the Under-19 Division competing at the Richmond Convention Center, Richmond, Va. Running concurrently at Spooky Nook Sports will be the Under-10 and Under-12 co-ed divisions, as well as the Under-15 boys and adult divisions. The final weekend of March 6-8 will see action at Spooky Nook Sports with the Under-14 Girls division.
