PSO leagues strive to make every child a champion. Therefore, PSO coaches are led to encourage, motivate, and build each child’s self-esteem as well as his or her athletic ability.
Mandatory Volunteer Screening Process
Click here for more details and for coach registration help.
At Prestonwood Baptist Church, we are committed to creating a safe environment, free from abuse of any kind. Therefore, we require all staff members and volunteers to be approved through a two-step process:
- Background check (annual requirement)
- Sexual Abuse Awareness Training (required every two years)
At the bottom of your coach registration page there will be a link you must click to provide the necessary information to begin the background check process. In addition, if you are a new coach, you will also receive an email from PSO with further instructions. The background check, once completed, is good for all sports and all ministries of our church for one year.
The volunteer screening process requires each volunteer to complete the Ministry Safe Sexual Abuse Awareness Training. This training is required every two years and includes video sessions followed by a 25-question quiz. This training is good for all sports and ministries of our church for two years. After you register as a coach, if this training is not current, or if you are a new coach, you will receive an e-mail from Prestonwood that will include a link to the training.

Practice Signup
Practices begin on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Some practice space will be available at Prestonwood soccer fields, however, teams may practice at local parks if they wish.
Soccer Uniforms
The head coach is responsible for ordering their team's uniform. Cardinal's Sport Center is PSO's preferred uniform vendor. You may order your team's uniform using the suggested uniform kit here or here or you may work with Cardinal’s on choosing your own uniform. Please let them know you are a PSO soccer team and Cardinal's will make a donation to PSO soccer. Please have your complete order submitted by Saturday, January 20th, 2024 to make sure it arrives in time for the first game of the season.

Mandatory Coaches’ Meeting and Coaches Clinic
All head coaches are required to attend our mandatory coaches’ meeting at the beginning of each season. Assistant coaches are welcome to participate. Go to the Key Dates for the most current coaches’ meeting dates and time.
During this meeting, you will be able reserve a PSO soccer field to practice. The scheduling of practice space is done on a first-come, first-served basis. PSO does not guarantee space, so you may need to secure your own practice space elsewhere.
Value Lessons
Weekly value lessons will be done before the start of every game. (Click on the link at the end of this section.) The home team's head coach is responsible for leading the devotion five minutes before the start of the game. Bring both teams to the center of the field, present the weekly value lesson and pray with both teams. It is the responsibility of both teams’ coaches to bring the weekly value lesson to every game. Your referee has been asked to participate in the weekly value lesson as well.
