Springfield Youth Athletics (formerly-Springfield 5A)
is a non-profit organization created to provide activities and opportunities
for young people, regardless of race, religion or economic status, in the urban
Springfield community and surrounding area. We committed to the preparation and development of young adults
academically, athletically, and socially. Over the past 22 years, the
organization has partnered with the City of Springfield in creating athletic
teams for youth (ages 8-14) and providing academic programs to support and
guide these individuals scholastically. These efforts have resulted in
these individuals obtaining entrances into various universities across the
country and careers in law enforcement, social services, medical services, Corporate
America, and entrepreneurs.
Our mission is to provide activities year-round and have partnered with the National Football
Association to bring NFL Youth FLAG Football to the Pioneer Valley in 2014. We also, expanded our offerings at the end of 2013 into 2014
by introducing basketball (ages 7-16) both local and AAU travel teams as well
as promotion of soccer, boxing, wrestling and fitness programs.
Additionally, we
merged with Springfield Youth Football to create one of the most powerful
tackle football programs in the area competing locally in the SAFL and travel
teams in the AYF league. Under our organizational umbrella, we house the
Springfield Tigers (AYF), 5A Bulldogs (SAFL), Step Sisstas (Dance) and the
Ragin Bulls (Basketball).
