The 8U-10U Junior Academy program is offered to players that are ready for an entry program into the competitive side of the club. The Junior Academy stresses player development over results, and focuses on the development of individual skills, technique and basic game understanding. The program is recommended by US Soccer and the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association.

  • The specific goals of the Junior Academy are:
  • To create a positive environment for players, coaches and parents
  • To focus on individual player development
  • To instill a love and passion for the game of soccer
  • To learn basic game understanding
  • To educate parents about proper expectations in their child's youth soccer experience

AGE GROUPS/GENDERS

The Junior Academy Program is open to 8U, 9U and 10U boys and girls. These players must attend evaluations in May to be placed on a team for the following fall and spring. Example: evaluation in May 2017 for fall 2017 and spring 2018 season. CLICK HERE for a chart of programs available to our players.

DIRECTOR/COACHES

The program is overseen by Ethan Kilby (Boys Director) and Katherine Skarbek (Girls Director).  Junior Academy teams are coached by Twins Staff Coaches; each team will have a coach dedicated to those players for the year with a minimum of a USSF F License. COMMITMENT- TRAINING AND GAME EVENTS

The Junior Academy Program is a two season commitment with seasons in the Fall (mid-August to mid-November) and Spring (end of January to beginning of May). Players will practice for 60 minutes 2 nights per week at BB&T Soccer Park. Girls will train on Mondays and Wednesdays, boys will train on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Practice times will be determined by the Junior Academy Directors prior to the start of the season; all players in a certain age group will train on the same field at the same time (9U Girls all train together, 10U Girls, etc.).

Games will typically be played on Saturdays against other clubs in the area, and there will also be the occasional intersquad event. Players will play in at least 8 games and will participate in one festival event each season. Travel is limited to the Piedmont Triad area. Some players will be offered optional opportunities to participate in Tournaments outside the area; there is an additional fee for additional event invites.
