Staff Spotlight - Kathy Cartee

Role in the club:   Finance Manager at Fusion and GUSA

Years with the club:  I have been employed here 6 ½ years, but I was involved for about 10 years previously when our sons were playing.

Favorite Team:   Trinity University, where my oldest son coaches.  😉  We try to watch all of the games online if we can’t be in San Antonio.

Favorite soccer memory:  Since I wasn’t a player, my memories revolve around both of my sons’ experiences.  Fortunately they both played on some wonderful teams at many levels, so I have a bunch of great memories.  It would be hard to settle on one.

Favorite pastime outside of work:  Anything with family, baking, reading

Last book you read:  The Wright Brothers by David McCullough

Favorite musician/group:  Home Free

Advice for young players:  Two things –

One:  Practice and juggle the ball at home.  To become a skilled player, you’ll need more touches than you can get at team practice alone.

Two:  Work on your non-dominant foot.  If you can use both feet, it will provide more opportunities to excel on the field but also, as you mature and move to different levels, it will make you a more valuable player who can be used in more positions on the field.
