Letter From The President of TYBA / Spring Clinic

Dear TYBA Community,

My name is David Croce and I'm the new president of Tyngsboro Youth Baseball Association.  I'd like to start by thanking Jeff Wall for his service as president over the last couple years and look forward to continuing to work with Jeff as he takes on a new role on our Board of Directors.

I wanted to take a moment to update everyone on what me and my fellow Board of Directors have been working on and what we have in store for 2021.  Obviously it was disappointing to us all not to have a baseball season in 2020, but I'm here to tell you that we are planning on a full 2021 TYBA and will be ready to adapt to any new or changing COVID restrictions.  For starters, we will transition our normal "Winter Clinic" to more of a "Spring Training".  With COVID spiking right now, the Board thought is was best to push our winter clinic out a few months in hopes that the COVID spike will come down by March and April timeframe.  This year we are partnering with the Nor'easters Baseball to run our clinic and you will be seeing more details and information about that program.

As I mentioned earlier, we will have a 2021 TYBA season.  That will start with our T-Ball age kids all the way up to our Babe Ruth age kids.  The Board is committed to make sure all our kids have an opportunity to play baseball this year.  We are also excited to announce that we plan on co-scheduling games with Dracut Youth Baseball.  This means that our teams from Tyngsboro will have some games against Dracut teams.  We are currently working out the details with Dracut as to what age divisions this will include, but initial conversations have been to include our Minor league and Major league teams for starter, and possibly even our Rookie division.  So instead of just playing the same inter-Tyngsboro teams over and over, we will have games against Dracut teams.  Some games will be played on Tyngsboro fields, and some will be played on Dracut fields.  We are also having discussions with Dracut about how we might be able to combine on the Bath Ruth level also.  Again, there is a commitment from both TYBA and Dracut to work together on many levels and we will be ironing out those details over the next few month.  We are very excited about this opportunity with Dracut.

The Board is also committed to making sure that our league is safe for players, coaches, and parents when it comes to COVID.  As we all know COVID is constantly changing and the State of MA has all types of regulations and guidelines for youth sports.  We are committed to follow all the required protocols to make sure we provide a safe environment for all.

Last, we do have several positions currently open on our Board of Directors.  We will soon be soliciting for new members to come join the Board and fill these open positions.  We are also planning to create a new position of COVID Advisor where we will have an individual solely responsible for understanding all the COVID requirements and protocols and make sure TYBA remains educated and COVID compliant throughout the 2021 season.  These new and open positions are all volunteer, and the success of the TYBA program has always relied on parents coming forward to be on the Board, help coach, or participate in any way possible to make sure we provide the best experience possible for all the kids who want to play baseball.

I look forward to a brighter 2021 and on behalf of the TYBA Board of Directors, we look forward to playing some baseball in 2021.

Thank you,

David Croce
