Volleyball Program Philosophy

The Glenside Youth Athletic Club (GYAC) Volleyball Program’s primary objective is to introduce the sport of volleyball to the boys, girls and parents of the community. GYAC will offer indoor clinics in the winter, and outdoor clinics in the summer, as well as the potential for tournament teams in the winter. Clinics will be focused on teaching the fundamentals and rules of the game. There is currently no volleyball league in the area for game play, and children are not assigned to teams. The program is structured after the principles of USA Volleyball, which believes that children best learn the game of volleyball by playing volleyball games and drills.
  • GYAC Volleyball is a recreational youth sports program to be enjoyed by all players in the program.
  • Each child who wishes to play ball should be entitled to do so regardless of skill, gender, or financial circumstances.
  • Through involvement in GYAC, the player will have the opportunity to develop the fundamental skills of the game of Volleyball, learn sportsmanship, socialize with their peers, develop leadership qualities and actively participate as a valuable team member.
  • Praise and recognition are the most effective tools in inspiring an attitude of self-confidence which is key to development of the character of the individual.
  • Good sportsmanship and courtesy are necessary for a harmonious and safe environment.
