Rec Program

Kindergarten


This division is all about fun.  Emphasis is on helping the kids learn the basic fundamentals and good sportsmanship.  For more information, please see Kindergarten Rules Updated 11/16/20.

General Kindergarten Program Information:

  • The season runs from mid November through February.
  • There are no weekly team practices for this age group, but players are encouraged to participate in the professionally coached weekly age level clinics.
  • Teams will meet on Saturdays, and will have a 30-minute practice session followed by a Game.
  • Games are 3v3
  • Games are two 10 minute halves with a continuous running clock.
  • There is no scorekeeping.
  • One coach per team will be on the floor to 'ref' the game (assist with the flow of the game).
  • Violations such as traveling and double dribbling are loosely enforced.
  • No backcourt defense.  
  • Man-to-man defense is required (no zone or double teaming is permitted).
  • All players must play equal time.
  • Courts have 8 foot goals, and play will be side-to-side for a short court.
  • Junior Size (27.0 or 27.5) basketball will be used.
 

1st Grade Boys


This division is all about fun.  Emphasis is on helping the kids learn the basic fundamentals and good sportsmanship.  For more information, please see1st Grade Boys Rules Updated 11/16/20 .

General 1st Grade Boys Program Information:
  • The season runs from mid November through February.
  • Teams will have one practice per week and players are also encouraged to attend the professionally coached age level clinics each week. 
  • Teams will play 10 regular season games.
  • Games will be played on Saturdays.
  • Games are 4 on 4 and each player must play equal time.
  • Games consist of four 10 minute quarters with a continuous running clock. 
  • Each game will have one referee.
  • There is no scorekeeping.
  • 8 foot goals on side-to-side short court.
  • Junior Size (27.0 or 27.5) basketball.  
  • No End of Season Tournament. 
 

2nd Grade Boys

  • Teams will play 10 regular season games.
  • Games will be played on Saturdays.
  • Games are 5 on 5, and each player must play equal time.
  • There are two referees each game.
  • Games consist of four 10-minute quarters with a continuous running clock.
  • There is no official scorekeeping.
  • Violations such as traveling and double dribbling are enforced.
  • No free throws.
  • No 3-point goals.
  • No backcourt defense.
  • Man-to-man defense only (no zone defense or double teaming).
  • 9 foot goals on full court.
  • Junior Size (27.0 or 27.5) basketball.      
  • No End of Season Tournament.
 

3rd & 4th Grade Boys


The Rec league will be more competitive that younger age groups, but the emphasis will still on ensuring kids have fun while learning the fundamentals and about team basketball.  Skills assessments are required to help parity among the teams.  For more information, please see 3rd & 4th Grade Boys Rules Updated 11/30/20.
