2015 AYSO Extra Coach Application

What is AYSO Extra?

AYSO Extra is a competitive, year-round soccer program designed to provide a more challenging level of play for those players who possess the appropriate interest, skills and abilities.  The objectives of the Extra program are to enhance each player’s experience and individual growth through the game of soccer, while retaining the spirit, organization, and philosophies of AYSO.  The sixth philosophy of AYSO, Player Development, is a primary focus of the AYSO Extra program. Extra teams are formed by each region in Area 10E (along with teams from other Areas).  The Extra teams play against each other during the Fall soccer season (10 – 14 games), with playoffs held at season’s end, as well as in various Tournaments and other competitions throughout the off-season.

Benefits of Coaching an AYSO Extra Team:

  1. Professional Trainers and Player Development: Each Extra team’s registration fees include access to professional trainers during the regular season to help our players develop technical skills, tactical abilities and fitness levels that set a clear path toward achieving realistic goals and realizing potential, while having fun and learning the game of soccer. Registration fees also include home and away uniforms.
  2. Year-Round Play:  Coach your Extra team throughout the calendar year.  In addition to competing in the Fall season against other Area Extra programs, Extra teams can / should continue training / competing in the off-season in Spring & Summer Tournaments.
  3. Coach Mentoring:  Extra Coaches have access to coordinate practice-session plans with Professional Trainers, as well as receive guidance and support not only from our dedicated Extra Coach Mentor, but from fellow Extra Coaches as well.
  4. Small sided games:  Fewer players on the field (U9 &U10 - 7 v 7; U11 & U12 - 9 v 9) allows for more touches for all players involved.
  5. Everyone Plays:  All players play ¾ of the game.
  6. Positive Coaching:  All coaches must be certified and experienced, as well as positive, instructive and encouraging with the players.
  7. Well-Trained, Quality Referees:  Referee teams are mindful of player safety and love of the game.
  8. BRING YOUR TEAM CLUB!!  As of 2015, Moorpark AYSO now offers a Club division under the AYSO Challenge club banner.  Our U13 and above players can now play as a Club team within the California State Soccer Association, aka Cal South, all under the AYSO banner and operating within the 6 core AYSO philosophies.  Build your team from U9 on up to Club, continuously developing our players and preparing them for the challenges, excitement and prestige of playing as a Club Team!
