Newest Addition to the Field of Dreams
Eagle Scout candidate and former NYB player Trent Rice spent his spring break in an unusual way. Trent partnered with NYB to design and build a practice pitching area at the Field of Dreams facility. The new practice area is nearly complete, and will be available to all NYB players for practice very soon.
The new practice area consists of four mounds at one end, and four adjustable home plates at the other end. These plates can be moved to reflect the different pitching distances used by the different age groups.
Trent and NYB board members worked together to design an area that would give NYB players access to actual pitching mounds for practice. At the same time, player safety and the desire to create an area that blended well with the rest of the facility were issues to be overcome. In the end, all goals were met and the end result was beyond all expectations.
In building this great addition to our facility, Trent solicited the help of over 50 volunteers from his fellow Scouts, and together they logged over 500 man hours. Thank you Trent for your contribution to Noblesville Youth Baseball!
