HTRBA's 2020 Summer Season

We are ready to share our plans and safety procedures with you for the summer season.

Summer Season

Our plan for the season is to begin practicing on Monday, June 22, and play until Friday, September 4.  Practices will be scheduled at HTRBA until games start.  Hopefully, the township's fields will be open by the time our games begin.

Games will begin as soon as the State of NJ allows us.  We are hoping for that to start as soon as Monday, July 6.  Once games are allowed to start for every division, each team will have at least two scheduled games per week, except the Tee Ball division.  Tee Ball will have one per scheduled game per week.  This is the same format we follow every Spring.

Restructuring the League

Due to the fact that there are players who registered for the Spring season, but are choosing to not play this summer, the league will have to be restructured.  Many of the anticipated Spring teams now fall below the minimum required number of players for a team.  We also expect some families that replied "Maybe" on the survey will now choose to not play over the summer which impacts the number of players available.

One thing we know for sure is there will be NO AA - Player's/Coach Pitch division this summer.  Too many players selected for this division in the Spring are not returning this summer.  Players will be reassigned to a team in the Single-A Coach Pitch or AAA-Player Pitch divisions.

Safety Procedures

There is a link to the safety procedures here.  Just to highlight a few items:
  • All coaches and volunteers working with the players must wear face coverings.
  • Players do not have to wear a face-covering while on the field and playing baseball.  They should wear them when at HTRBA and not actively playing, such as when they are arriving at and leaving from the fields.
  • The indoor batting cage will remain closed.
  • When practicing all three fields can be used.
  • When games are going on only 2 fields will be used at one time.  This is to ensure that there is enough distance between spectators.
  • On Saturdays when we plan to have multiple games, they will be spaced out by three hours and cannot last longer than 2-hours.  This is to allow enough time for one game to end and those teams to leave before the next set of teams arrive to play their games.
  • During games, players will sit outside of the dugout.  If the heat allows they will sit on the bleachers.  Equipment will also be placed outside the dugout along the fence.
  • The concession stand and press boxes will be closed.
