Pitch Hit & Run and Junior Homerun Derby May 9

HTRBA Little League will be hosting the MLB Pitch Hit & Run competition and the MLB Jr Homerun Derby on Thursday, May 9 beginning at 6:30 pm.  There is no fee to enter either event.

Pitch Hit & Run Competition

The Pitch Hit & Run competition is open to HTRBA players only who will be least age 7-years-old on July 17, 2019.

There are three age groups – 7/8, 9/10, and 11/12.  The top scoring player for each event per age group, as well as the overall winner in each group, will advance to the Sectional competition at Robbinsville Little League on Sunday, June 4.

For the “Pitch” event, each player throws six pitches from 45 feet toward a target the size of a strike zone.  Points are awarded for each pitch that hits the target.

The “Hit” event is based on how far, and how straight, a ball can be hit from a tee.  Each player gets three swings off of a tee.  The best of the three swings are used to award points.

Finally, the “Run” event is how fast players can run from just before second base to home.  Each player gets one turn.  Points are awarded based on time.

The points accumulated in all three events are tallied to determine the overall competition winner in each group.

Jr Homerun Derby

The Jr Homerun Derby competition is open to anyone who will be 14-years-old or younger on July 17, 2019.  Please free to spread the word about this competition.  Non-HTRBA players should bring a copy of their birth certificate for registration.

There are two age groups - 12U and 14U.  One winner from each group will be determined and they will move on the Sectional competition.

Bats cannot be greater than 34"

Bats cannot have a barrel greater than 2 5/8 inches in diameter

Non-wood bats must have the USA Baseball stamp or BBCOR stamp.

In Round #1, every player will get 10 swings to hit as many home runs as they can.

In Round #2 the top 2 players in each division will have their score reset to zero and each player will get 10 more swings.

In the event of a tie in either round, each player that is tied will get five swings to hit additional home runs.  This will continue until we have a winner.

Assuming we start promptly at 6:30, we should be done with both competitions by 8:30.  Players must be present at the time each event takes place.  There will be no make-ups.  Players do not have to participate in each event.

Thank you!  This is always a fun event for everyone who participates.
