Umpire Tolerance Policy

I. General Policy

The Umpire Tolerance Policy exists as a formal document as approved by the BBSA Board of Governors on the date listed on this policy and is an extension and to complement the BBSA’s Code of Conduct Policy.


II. The Primary Objectives

Further the objectives of the BBSA in presenting to the Bloomingdale community a wholesome, fair and successful youth baseball and softball program in a non hostile environment. Provide a formal written document to follow and the consequences of not adhering to set rules stated in this policy.


III. Governing Body

The Umpire Tolerance Policy is governed the BBSA’s Board of Governors, under rules established by the Board. The Secretary of the League shall keep the most recent revision of this policy on file.


IV. Policy Changes

It is fully expected that all future Boards will review this document, consider its successes, failures and relevance and improve upon it each year. Copies of this document will be available to each Board member and each manager in the BBSA.


V. Responsibilities of Managers

Each manager must control their coaches, parents, players, spectators and themselves in regards to shouting, harassing, intimidating, using foul language or having any hostile physical contact with the umpires.


VI. Warning by Umpire

Upon any infractions as stated above but not limited to, the umpire will issue a warning to the offending manager. The opposing manager will also be informed of the warning.


VII. Ejection of a Manager, Coach, Player or Spectator

Upon a further infraction, the umpire will eject the manager, coach or spectator(s) from the game. . Play will not resume until this person/people have left the ball park. Any refusal to leave will result in the offending team's forfeiture of the game.


VIII. League Notification

A written description of the ejection must be forwarded to the league President and or the Umpire coordinator within 24 hours of the ejection by the manager of the affected team.


IX. Disciplinary Hearing

Any manager, coach or player who was ejected from a game will also be suspended indefinitely until being reinstated after attending a disciplinary committee hearing. The Disciplinary Committee will consist of the President, Umpire coordinator and select members of the Executive Board.


X. Agreement

The original signed copy of this policy will be kept on file with the League Secretary of the BBSA. By signing this policy I agree to the above responsibilities and understand the consequences of not adhering to this policy. Refusal to sign this policy will forfeit your position as a manager within the BBSA.
