Northside Soccer Academy Staff


Director of Coaches: Clayton Schmitt (NSCAA Premier Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National GK Diploma)

Coaching Experience: Clayton has served as the DOC of Northside Soccer Academy since 2011. He also currently serves as an assistant with the Emory University Men’s Soccer Program and is the Holy Innocence Girls Varsity Head Coach.  In the past, he has worked at Oglethorpe University with the men’s program and was the Varsity Head Coach at both the Weber School and Holy Spirit Prep.


Academy Director: Wesley Lutz (USSF “C” License and NSCAA Advanced National)

Coaching Experience: Wesley is going on year 3 as the academy director at Northside Church Soccer Academy. He also currently serves as the volunteer assistant with the woman’s team at Georgia State. In the past he has served on the coaching staffs at Oglethorpe University and Emory University.


Recreation Director: Mandy Bennett

Coaching Experience: Mandy is entering her 3rd year as the Rec Director at Northside Church Soccer Academy. In the past she has served as the technical director at Inter Atlanta as well as a staff coach at RYSA. She has also coached at the collegiate level as an assistant coach at Georgia Gwinnett College, Jacksonville University, and Georgia State University.

Coaching Experience: NASA Academy Director/Select Coach, Dacula Revolution Director of Coaches, TYSA Boys & Girls Club Program Director, Oglethorpe University Men’s & Women’s Assistant Coach


Ed Joyce (NSCAA Premier Diploma)

Coaching Experience: Ed currently serves as the Georgia State University Woman’s Head Soccer Coach since 2016, Ed has also served as a collegiate assistant men’s assistant coach at Georgia State, Campbell University and Presbyterian College as well as a woman’s assistant coach at Ohio University.

Steve Hobart (USSF “D”)

Coaching experience: Northside Staff coach since 2016. Also serves as an Assistant coach with the Oglethorpe Men’s Soccer program. Former GPS Smryna Director and GPS Carolina staff coach

Coaching Experience: Current Boys Head Coach at Campbell HS, former community coach at Kennesaw Mountain HS from 2011-2014, former NASA Staff coach 2014-2017

Scott Snyder (USSF National “B”, NSCAA Advanced National)

Coaching experience: Scott is the current Westminster Boys High School Coach where he has won 6 state Championships. In the past he has served as the Notre Dame High School coach (TN), a staff coach at Buckhead YMCA, former DOC of Smyrna Soccer Club, and an ODP staff coach in TN.

Coaching Experience: Northside Staff Coach since 2015, former volunteer Woman’s assistant at Wooster College (Ohio), former staff coach at Cleveland Internationals
