N60 Tryouts

Johnsburg Boys Baseball League (JBBL) believes in providing baseball for everyone that is fun,
competitive, local, affordable that teaches great sportsmanship. The JBBL provides both recreational
and competitive baseball. JBBL’s competitive program is called N60.
N60 is an acronym that stands for North of Route 60. This was to indicate that the league would consist
of town’s/program’s all-star teams north of route 60. It is also synonymous with NIASL (Northern Illinois
All-Star League). The league has expanded over the years and consists of teams around the Chicago-land
area. In order to participate in the JBBL’s N60 program, each player must also participate in JBBL’s
recreational program.
JBBL participates in the N60 league starting at 9U (9 year olds and under) through 14U to organize games
that occur concurrently to the spring recreational program. These games are scheduled on Fridays and
Sundays from beginning of April through late July. The number of games is subject to coaches’ discretion
however there are typically 10-20 games played in the N60 league.
These games are designed to prepare our players for tournaments. In addition to league games, JBBL’s
N60 program includes 3-4 tournaments per year. With tournaments, guaranteed games range from 3-4.
If you participate in N60, a player, with recreational games included (~16), will participate in 35 – 52
games from beginning of April – late July.
With the competitive nature of these games, more instruction/practice is needed to compete at these
levels. JBBL provides indoor practice opportunities at our schools starting at the beginning of January
through end of March.
JBBL believes in providing opportunities for all kids interested in playing competitive baseball. However,
spots are not guaranteed due to the number of kids’ interest at each age group. Teams will consist of 10-
12 players and if lower numbers are available for an age group, we may consolidate age levels thus
providing less spots. A try-out and coaches’ discretion are used to form teams at each age group. Try-
outs are typically done in August for the next year’s team formation. For our younger players, we do
typically enter 1-2 tournaments at 8U after the recreational program concludes, but do not offer the N60
program for that age group.
The JBBL N60 program costs significantly more for the league than the recreational program per player.
However, JBBL’s core values is to provide baseball at affordable prices to our community. We cannot do
that without our great sponsors so please support our sponsors. Our recreational program fees are
$135-$150 for our Mustang – Pony leagues. N60 fees range from $450 - $500, which
does
include
recreational fees. The N60 fees include:
Recreational practices/games
Recreational uniform/hat
N60 league practices/games
Tournaments
Top quality uniform/hat (2 jerseys: home/away Jersey)
