WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENT

Weather Update for Sunday,  April 16 2023
Posted: Sunday , April 16, 2023

Note:  Saturday April 15
games will be rescheduled for Sunday, April 23. Check the website on Monday for exact times.

Please check this website prior to heading out to your game.

Conditions related to thunderstorms tend to be made at the field by the referee. Once games have started, referees are instructed to use common sense and suspend play when dangerous weather threatens, even if the storm has not yet broken. Their decisions should err on the side of safety and caution. Immediately upon suspension or termination of a game, players and spectators must leave the field and surrounding area, returning to places of safety (i.e., cars). When thunder or lightning occurs, the game is immediately stopped, and the game clock is stopped.

If there are 15 minutes or less remaining in the game, the game is terminated with the current game score reported as the final score. If more than 15 minutes remain in the game, participants must wait the appropriate time – 30 minutes without additional thunder or lightning – before continuing the game. If the game has not started the second half, and the game cannot be restarted because of continuing inclement weather, the game is NOT an official game and will be rescheduled. If the game is stopped during the 2nd half with more than 15 minutes remaining, but the game cannot be restarted because of continuing inclement weather, the game is an official game and the score at the time of termination will be reported as the final score. The clock will stop during a delay and will resume when play restarts.

All games are ON as scheduled and subject to the following protocol due to the predicted high temperatures:

Heat Advisory for Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22, 2022 -
Due to the sudden high-heat anticipated for this weekend, the following guidance is in effect.  The coaches should meet with the referee prior to the start of the game to be sure that they understand the changes that will be in effect.  We encourage you to print this message and show it to the referee(s).

In addition to these game modifications, coaches should encourage all players to properly hydrate prior to arriving at the field, and to drink water frequently when able throughout the game.  Coaches are encouraged to rotate players on the field, and to seek shaded areas for seating where possible.

NATURAL GRASS FIELD GAMES (both Saturday and Sunday games) -
For all games played on natural grass fields, teams shall take a 2-minute water break at the mid-point of each half of play.  This water break shall be a “running clock”, and will not serve to extend the length of either half of play.  A normal halftime interval shall also be observed.  In effect, your total “playing time” shall be reduced by 4 minutes in order to facilitate the water breaks, while keeping all games on schedule throughout the day.

SYNTHETIC TURF FIELD GAMES (Saturday games) -
For all games played on synthetic turf fields, teams shall take a 5-minute water break at the mid-point of each half of play.  This water break shall be a “running clock”, and will not serve to extend the length of either half of play.  A normal halftime interval shall also be observed.  In effect, your total “playing time” shall be reduced by 10 minutes in order to facilitate the water breaks, while keeping all games on schedule throughout the day.  This reduction in active play time is important, due to the additional heat associated with synthetic turf surfaces.

SYNTHETIC TURF FIELD GAMES (Sunday games) -
For all games played on synthetic turf fields with kickoff times prior to 4:30 pm, teams shall take a 5-minute water break at the mid-point of each half of play.

For games on Sunday with kickoff times of 4:30 pm or later, either coach may choose to include the 5-minute water break if the high-heat has continued (it is expected to break in the mid-to-late afternoon time frame).

While the forecast for tomorrow morning indicates a likelihood of snow accumulation, we are waiting until the morning to make any decisions regarding possible postponement of games.  There is a possibility that the snow line will move just enough eastward to allow us to play games, tomorrow, and we are motivated to give the kids every chance to play if it is possible.

Please check back to this page on Sunday  morning for an update, and thank you!
